It is an easy walk to the top of the world, if you already live there. That is what it is like on Shadow Ridge, two side-by-side 40 acre parcels of high desert land, situated on the southern slopes of Barrett Peak, the Mule Mountain Range's tallest mountain. Nestled a mile high in southeast Arizona's Sky Island Region, the ranch is sometimes surrounded by low-lying clouds and becomes an island in the sky.
As one approaches the ranch, one passes the pyramid palatial Wick estate. Then while driving through a forest of oaks, one passes the fallen ruins of an old miner's shack. Once at the property, you look out across southeastern Arizona and northern Mexico, forever stretching before your gaze. The sunsets from the property are purely spectacular! The morning sunrises cast a large shadow on the slopes of the ranch's high ridge.
Wildlife, flora, deer and other fauna abound. There are oak and ocotillo forests, tall grass meadows, agave, yucca and wildflowers galore, a hard-rock natural amphitheater nearly the size of a football field, tree-laden arroyos, and dramatic and amazing cliffs. The East property line is adjacent to National Forest land. It is a nature lover's/survivalist's dream come true.
During the monsoon rainy season of Summer it is frequently cool. Sometimes there are flowing streams that begin on the property where water springs from the earth. And sometimes there are incredibly beautiful cascades of water that form desert waterfalls.
The unfinished Building is currently a 20' x 40' x 12' high stucco building. It has 8 sliding glass doors/windows that look graciously and generously upon the surrounding beauty and western panoramas. There are also 3 swinging doors and other windows.
